Recreation Therapy Team, Therapeutics Department

The Edmonton General’s Recreation Therapy team is a group of seventeen who bring passion, innovation and enthusiasm to over 500 residents and patients. The site is home to many residents with special and complex needs, such as those living with Huntington’s disease, who require individualized recreation therapy plans. The team is careful to ensure activities are inclusive and keep residents engaged in meaningful activities, regardless of their medical conditions and needs.

The team is also diligent in designing a wide range of programs, events and activities that celebrate and honour the diverse mosaic of cultures and interests of Edmonton General residents. From the site’s annual Chinese New Year celebration to cooking classes and nature walks, the Recreation Therapy team ensures fun is had by everyone.

The team is also exemplary in their support for one another. They are quick to offer compliments, thank yous and kind words, and lend support where it’s needed. At all times courteous and helpful, the team approaches challenges with patience and consideration for their colleagues and residents alike.
