Doreen takes the time to listen and truly understand staff concerns with an emphasis on determining what the root causes for the concern may be. Doreen actively listens to staff concerns and empathizes which helps builds trusting relationships. Doreen offers creative and innovative solutions when concerns are brought to her and follows up to ensure that the actions have resolved the issue and staff are satisfied. Doreen’s team members are better equipped for their jobs because of her support and respect. Doreen takes stress seriously and understands when staff are under too much pressure. She seeks ways to alleviate the pressure into manageable proportions. She invites staff and management to be a part of the decision-making process. This provides a platform for all staff to be treated with equality, justice and respect.

Doreen inclusively listens to and respects the decisions and concerns of residents, their families and the staff. She pays attention to what will bring a sense of well-being. Doreen challenges plans or practices that could be harmful and works with her team to find options and solutions to help create a healthy working environment. As a result of Doreen's leadership, the site has experienced less employee turnover. Because of her leadership, the team feels they are doing well as a staff and as an organization. “We experience stability in our workplace and feel we have a stronger Covenant Care family at St. Marguerite Manor because of Doreen’s leadership.”
