Krista is often described as a bright light at St. Mary’s Hospital, greeting everyone with a smile. Known for making her colleagues, staff and patients feel at ease, she’s often the first person people go to for guidance and support. She is active in supporting her teams and will step in at the patient level when staff need assistance, whether this means answering call bells, entertaining patients with high attention needs or covering the floor so her staff can take breaks. Krista’s compassion doesn’t end at the door of her unit—she takes the time to be there for people all across the hospital.

Kindness and compassion guide Krista’s work every day, and one recent example is how she responded to a code white incident on her unit. Recognizing the potential impact, Krista spent many hours making sure staff, patients and families felt safe and supported, and engaged the CISM team. She contacted each staff member to check on their well-being and ensure they were aware of support systems, and checked in with other nursing units and allied departments. Krista also visited patient and families to make sure they understood what happened and to answer any questions. This is just one of many examples that demonstrate the attentive care Krista shows to everyone at St. Mary’s.
