Jayleen Desaunoy, Activity Assistant, Recreation
Covenant is committed to compassion, putting the care of the people we serve at the forefront. Jayleen practices stewardship as she supports the health of her co-workers to helps minimize employee burnout. Jayleen's work as wellness coordinator adds warmth to the facility. She fills a "wellness board" with current wellness information, tips, games and drawings. Her efforts to help keep employees well and engaged are appreciated by the staff. Jay facilitated a Wellness Wednesday which included emailing out tips and helpful links, creating posters and messages on whiteboards, and a lot of face-to-face time with a roving cart. She made efforts to ensure that evening and night staff weren’t missed.
Jayleen also champions a safe and healthy workplace through co-chairing Joint Worksite Health and Safety Committee meetings. She completes extra education to stay current on changes in standards. She supports our front-line staff, so they can provide care for our residents. This work is outside of Jayleen’s role as a recreational therapy activity assistant, in which she demonstrates incredible collaboration, compassion, respect, and integrity to care for the people we serve. Her attention to her co-workers well-being ensures that the team is healthy and able to continue their important care-giving work.
