Amy sees the “big picture” in health care. As she works in numerous roles at Bonnyville Health Centre, she recognizes where resources can be best used and where we can reach out to community partners for help. Amy has worked in collaboration with home-care and an oilfield trucking company to help transport resources from the hospital to a patient’s home. She can be found using her own time to drive to pharmacies for samples so patients can get their needed prescriptions on low incomes and be discharged properly. If there is ever a question of who can help, Amy is always the first call and she can come up with a list of where to go next.

When you ask Amy about a clinical event or situation, her first response is to highlight who helped her or who was involved to make it a success. Although Amy is often the “go to” person when a situation is escalating or more resources are needed, she is constantly giving praise to those around her. When asked about a resuscitation, she will tell you exactly what every other nurse did to save the patient’s life, without mentioning her own efforts. Whenever you work as a team with Amy on improvement projects, she highlights other the team members’ strengths. Amy’s collaborative approach enhances the team environment and helps patients get home and stay healthy.
