Recreation team

Ensuring residents receive the very best possible care falls on the shoulders of everyone who works at a facility. This is a responsibility the recreation team at Centre de Santé Saint-Thomas takes seriously. They regularly step up to help other teams, alleviating some of the strain and allowing them to use their time more effectively to care for residents.

Recreation team members help health care aides with meal times and hydration rounds on the third floor. Their extra efforts increase the efficiency of health care aides who have more time to follow best practices in providing care for residents. It was much appreciated when the site was on outbreak. With resources stretched even further, the recreation team didn’t hesitate to help – even while needing to wear personal protective equipment to care for isolated residents.

Not only does the recreation team lend a helping hand, they take a creative approach to make the work more fun. During Christmas, they found items to decorate the hydration cart and, in doing so, brightened the floor and the mood for residents and staff alike.
