Janine Wilton, physical therapist II
Janine is driven by a desire to make things better. As a physical therapist and a dedicated team member at Grey Nuns Community Hospital, she believes that to be a better caregiver, you must first take care of yourself. With that in mind, Janine continually seeks creative ways to engage staff in activities that enhance wellness. As a cultural ambassador for the department, she introduces initiatives that are inclusive and provide equal opportunities to everyone. Her Health Challenges program, for example, is a model of inclusivity, providing nutrition information and exercise opportunities for people of all physical abilities.
Janine is committed to her profession and promoting service excellence. Her work to support new staff and graduates include recently developing a bi-site mentorship program that will pair staff with new graduates to support them through their first year of employment. This initiative may be applied virtually, creating an opportunity to support staff in rural areas.
Her desire to find better ways to provide patient care led Janine to become a founding member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Quality Council. Through this, she was involved in a project that used patients’ feedback to provide more choice in therapeutic footwear – giving them both comfort and a voice.
Janine is truly invested in her patients, their families, her colleague and the profession. She models the values of Covenant Health on a daily basis as she continues to make life – and work – better for everyone.
