Dinora Torres-Garcia, laundry worker

Laundry may be an area that’s behind the scenes in a hospital, but it’s an important part of its day-to-day operations. And like in any other department, when the work is done with integrity, it reflects on the morale and professionalism of all who work there.

Dinora is a laundry worker at Our Lady of the Rosary who brings integrity to every task and to all of her interactions with co-workers. Her ethics are simple: she knows when something’s right and she knows when something’s wrong. If it’s something she cannot correct herself, she’ll bring it to the attention of someone who can. If she sees a problem with a co-worker or someone she’s training, she’ll take time to find out what’s really going on before she jumps to any conclusions. Dinora is willing to listen first, then help her co-worker get back on track.

She applies the same rules to herself. When mistakes happen, she’s the first to admit it, take responsibility and carry on her work with professionalism and integrity.
