Rhostum Lazado, health care aide

Rhostum’s care for residents at Bonnyville Health Centre exudes respect. He listens intently to each resident he serves and tries to understand their needs based on their history, values and beliefs. Rhostum uses this knowledge to provide the best care and to create an environment where residents feel valued, assisting the resident on their timeline with pride and patience. His calm approach naturally resolves any conflict that may come his way, and he uses humour to diffuse tension and make the residents laugh.

During this pandemic, Rhostum also took a position as a COVID-19 screener to help the site. He has been a shining star in this complex role by treating each individual with the highest regard no matter their temperament, circumstances, ability, beliefs or social status. He respects and observes the policies and procedures of Covenant Health while showing empathy and COVID-19 understanding while balancing the opinions of others. Rhostum always found a way to resolve tenuous situations while maintaining the values of those he serves and greeting everyone enthusiastically. You could see him shine through all the PPE.
