Dr. David Hanton and Dr. Noelle O'Riordan are extraordinary rural generalists who care for patients in Alberta's heartland, serving a medical catchment of approximately 6000 patients. They offer excellent 24 hour access to acute, long term, palliative and primary care. With little access to mental health supports in the region, Dr. Hanton and Dr. O'Riordan provide high-quality, culturally safe care on a one-on-one basis, while improving access for all people living in rural communities.

Dr. Hanton and O'Riordan consistently advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, including some of Alberta's most medically isolated, complex, economically challenged patients. Their work strengthens the delivery of medical care in rural communities. This includes purposeful advocacy for programs that provide services to under-served people and communities, while also building the infrastructure needed to address rural health inequities.

Their practice is inclusive and welcoming as they exemplify Covenant's mission and serve patients who would otherwise be excluded. They have saved the lives of many patients in difficult medical and social situations with grace and humility. The Our Lady of the Rosary team often hears of Dr. Hanton and Dr. O’Riordan’s advocacy indirectly as their humble, inclusive, and welcoming approach is intentionally discrete. Their life long contribution to addressing rural inequities, ensuring and advocating for the highest quality comprehensive care from cradle to grave for generations of rural Albertan's is a gift that is celebrated with sincere gratitude from the community.
