Dr. Hoegh-Peterson a model of respect in the hospital and the community. Her passion for improving the quality of care for seniors engages everyone she works with in her role as the clinical program chief on the Long Term Care unit at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital. Dr. Hoegh-Peterson provides engaging learning experiences for the care team to better understand and respond to dementia and to manage difficult behaviors. She skillfully translates knowledge about dementia for family members and improves the overall care experience through behavior mapping, appropriate use of anti-psychotics and strong collaborative care planning that meets each residents’ specific needs.

Dr. Hoegh-Peterson demonstrates respect as she welcomes all opinions to ensure the best resident care. She empowers and encourages all staff to bring forward their observations and help address resident needs. She actively listens, takes time and builds relationships that honour the unique needs and abilities of all the residents. Dr. Hoegh-Peterson is a constant teacher, mentor and collaborator who models profound respect for all those she encounters.
