Ankhi Chaudhuri, licensed practical nurse
Ankhi has been an licensed practical nurse at St. Teresa Place since it opened. From the beginning, she has established relationships with residents, families and staff that are founded on acceptance and compassion.
Ankhi listens with empathy and understanding. When a family who had recently moved a loved one into St. Teresa Place found it confusing and difficult to manage, especially after the resident developed COVID, Ankhi listened. She developed a plan to call the family weekly to update them about the resident’s health and wellbeing and listened to their concerns. Ankhi addressed those concerns by providing understanding with compassion.
Ankhi shows others the importance of taking time to communicate, especially during stressful situations. She’s spent time communicating with a resident who struggles with mental health issues and hearing problems – a combination that can be stressful for staff when they’re busy. Ankhi has become the resident’s favorite staff member because she took time to understand what was going on and find solutions to meet the resident’s complex needs.
Ankhi is focused on finding the best solutions and achieving the best outcomes for residents. She is building a culture of discipline and courage for staff when dealing with others’ distress. And she is inspiring others to simply listen – with compassion and understanding.
