Kit Ko, activity assistant

Kit is an inspiration and a motivating force for all her residents at St. Marguerite Manor. She is bubbly, happy and inspiring, and her interpersonal communication skills with the residents are advanced. There is no detail too small in the day of her residents that it does not have a bearing on what she includes in the communication she has with the residents.

Kit includes patients, residents and families as valued partners in the care experience. One of the ways she does this is by honouring the story and the past experiences of families and residents. She engages in conversations with the families and residents and trusts their feedback as valuable and trustworthy. She recognizes that each resident is on their own individual journey and she focuses on involving them in whatever way they feel comfortable, so that residents come away feeling appreciated and inspired.

She models her ways both to the volunteers and to the students who are engaged in practical experiences. She shows people how to interact with residents in a non-judgmental way and demonstrates approachability in all that she does. Everything she does comes from the right place and her focus is on demonstrating person-centered care.
