Leah McBride, program manager
Since arriving at Covenant Health, Leah McBride, a mental health program manager, has improved patient and client experiences indirectly through oversight of projects supporting cultural minorities, persons with addictions and those with limited access to community addiction and mental health services. She educates colleagues about these populations and strives to implement changes at sister programs.
This past year, Leah successfully relaunched the South Asia Network which partners with Covenant Health and Savera Clinic. She invested time to learn about a population affected by addictions and its cultural impacts on the South Asian community. She sees the clinicians on this team as fellow leaders, teachers and advocates. When asked about the project, she shares new knowledge and insights learned from the South Asia network team.
At the Misericordia hospital, she advocates for clients and people experiencing addiction. She inspired and created momentum for the naloxone kit program and protocol on unit 2W. With Leah’s guidance and support all patients on 2W are offered a naloxone kit and education. She is dedicated to skill development of the hospital’s emergency mental health team surrounding addiction care to meet the needs of current and future patients.
