Jamie Stiller, volunteer
A dedicated volunteer who has donated over 800 hours since May 2022, Jamie Stiller supports many teams in the Grey Nuns Community Hospital — child health clinic, occupational therapy, admitting and the Associates of Caritas. One of her most remarkable qualities is her ability to empathize with individuals from all walks of life. Whether it is playing games with child patients or providing cognitive stimulation to elderly patients with cognitive impairments, she demonstrates a capacity to connect and meet their unique needs. Jamie makes powerful connections with patients, and staff look forward to her weekly visits.
As a volunteer in the child health clinic, Jamie always has a smile and is energetic when she engages with the children. Whether it is getting messy and making slime with the kids or by crocheting dolls she helps build emotional safety. Jamie recognized three quarters of the children visiting are Indigenous, so she suggested the clinic provide Indigenous and dream catcher kits.
Jamie recognizes and responds to the whole child’s health needs. She can report key details she witnesses while engaging in play with a child to the doctor. She checks in with every team member to ask how they are and make sure they feel seen.
Jamie is a board member for the Associates of Caritas where she eagerly participates and contributes to promote a strong team. She knows her efforts on the board benefits patients, residents and families.
