Staff of 5AB

It’s true that one person can make a difference, but at Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, it’s the many people working as a team on 5AB who make the biggest difference for residents and their families.

Compassion is first and foremost for every person who works on the unit. This includes Maria from housekeeping who always has a kind word for patients and their families. Home care aides, always respectful, gentle and cheerful make residents feel special while taking care of their most basic needs. Fidela, the unit clerk, finds solutions to look after foot care and hair care. Specialists, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, social workers and the recreation department, help residents becomes stronger, more comfortable, well-nourished, socially connected and engaged in diverse activities.

The LPNs, along with unit manager, Theodora, ensure patients are well-fed at mealtime. They’re also there to help when family members want to better understand choices for their loved one as their abilities begin to decrease.

All of the staff on 5AB recognize the importance and privilege of accompanying long-term care patients in the most vulnerable stage of their life. They treat residents with dignity. Families are grateful for the respect, kindness and compassion their loved ones receive every single day.
