Melissa Mason, volunteer services and special events coordinator

When Banff Mineral Springs Hospital became the first full Covenant site to launch Connect Care – during a pandemic – Melissa took the word “connect” to heart. As the key contact person between the hospital and Connect Care teams, Melissa became the bridge that linked leadership, frontline staff and multiple Connect Care teams.

Melissa collaborated with all stakeholders and team members on-site and across the province to keep the project on track and on time. She coordinated more than 1,000 tasks involved with project, while working to keep disruption to departments to a minimum. She listened to managers and frontline staff, and communicated with leadership to clarify what was required of them. Her proactive approach and open communication resolved issues before they became problems.

Launching Connect Care during a pandemic brought unexpected challenges. The project was rescheduled three times, and each time Melissa assisted the team as it worked to retrain staff and revisit the workplan. Throughout the three-year project, Melissa’s positive attitude helped lift spirits and keep everyone moving forward.  Melissa's commitment and energy – along with a constant smile – was  a driving force behind the site’s successful launch of Connect Care and appreciated by everyone.
