Christina Bueckert, registered nurse
Some people are simply meant to be doing what they’re doing. Christina, a registered nurse who cares for patients in palliative care, is most certainly one of those people. Christina brings compassion into every interaction of her day. Her caring and kind disposition are gifts to her patients and their families. She listens to their concerns, ensures their needs are met, and is always available to be an ear or a shoulder to cry on.
Christina’s compassion extends to her team members and others around St. Joseph’s Home. The site’s chaplain, usually the one who asks others how they’re doing, was taken aback when Christina noticed he was having a difficult day. She took him aside, looked him in the eye and asked how he was doing.
The way Christina writes her charting notes shows that her compassion is equal to her professionalism. The quality of her notes reflects the quality of her care, and the detailed notes create a connection that enables other staff to continue providing the same quality of care.
A team member sums it up: “She is truly a gift to our team.”
